Welcome to the going pro yoga podcast. Namaste. My name is Paul chiodo joined here with Michael Henry. Most yoga teacher, trainings are becoming watered-down and mediocre. So we've created this podcast to help supplement those of you who graduated from a teacher training and don't feel confident going out into the real world.

Michael, and I are lucky to have been trained by some amazing people. We've gone out into the world ourselves and had success and we want you to feel confident to act your students and to build your career with integrity and authenticity. Welcome to our podcast.

Hey, welcome back to the going pro yoga podcast. Today, I am introducing to you a guest that we have on the show Byron is not here with us today. So it's just me and my guests. Jaden who is a marketer entrepreneur and affirmation Ambassador for positive psychology.

He co-founded with his wife, a meditation app called self, pause a few. Years ago, 2019 and it lets people record their own personalized affirmations and listen to professionally recorded affirmations as well. So, I'm really excited to have Jaden here because I think it's really important to talk about the Power of Words and affirmations. And we've mentioned it a couple times in the podcast. So we have Jaden here who's done, lots of research and has kind of developed into this

space for quite a while several years. And he wants to share a lot of Science and cool things about that as well as talk to us about his ass. A little bit as well. So Jaden, welcome to the show. Hey, Michael happy to be here. So Jaden just for audience, just to kind of get a synopsis of kind of who you are, where you're from, and maybe how this whole little app idea started and how you kind of got into the space and we can talk about that. Yeah.

So I have been a really big enthusiastic, you know, positive psychology and changing your mindset and that kind of stuff for a long time, but it wasn't until Recently that my wife and I got started on this whole kind of app Journey, where we created this positive affirmation app and I guess for people that might not be clear, I like just a good idea of what a positive affirmation is is, you know, it's typically a present tense statement about yourself, something positive and you know

usually reflects on your core beliefs. So for example, if it was like to do with finances, if you like I am abundant or you know, I had abundance all around me those kind of Statements you know you probably seen him on SNL people saying to them saying them to themselves in the mirror and whatnot. So yeah my wife and I have been really passionate about the kind of psychology that goes into that and kind of the science behind how affirmations can help

you shift your mindset and then help you shift your behavior as well. That's super powerful and we talked about this a little bit and how the power of words are communication to yourself, which is basically what we're talking about. We stand the mantras of affirmations. Is an important element.

Totally cool. So before we jump into the app too much, maybe we can talk a little bit more about some of the ground up, research and development of just kind of how this kind of came through. I mean, obviously you sharing your story a little bit with your wife, I think is key but also just yeah, like jumping into like, what made the motors turn into this direction? Like why is this something that you guys have put together? Yeah, so I guess the back story

on us and how we kind of got started was A few years ago, my wife was pregnant with our first son and we were, and she had a lot of like, Stress and Anxiety that kind of went along with that. Obviously, you know about, we're about to be parents for the first time and childbirth and just like the whole thing, right?

It was a lot and she was talking with a friend who recommended that, she listened to some affirmation meditations and they were literally just these MP3 files that you could download online. But for some reason they were super expensive and we were in At the time we're super poor.

So she came to me and was like, hey can I buy these? And you know if your pregnant wife asks you for something you don't say no. So I was like of course but like I had no idea what they were but I was really blown away once she started because you listen to them every morning when we're working off and she listened to them every night as we're going to bed. So you know, I'm laying in bed, listening to these like birthing affirmations and these motherhood affirmations. So we're you were listening to

them. Yeah. Cuz you put them on and she put them on like this. So we don't listen to him together, so I thought was like, sympathy pain, so that you could listen for her like in Your Ear Pod, but she's probably getting some benefit there too.

Nobody was amazing for me to see the mindset shift, you know, she went through listening to these going from, you know, place of Stress. And Anxiety is all of a sudden like she was super confident. She was super pump. She's like, I know my body can do this.

I know I can do this. You know, you saw that true. Yeah, it was oh, it was a total transformation. Just like in the Actually thought about pregnancy and motherhood and you know, as we discussed it it wasn't like any, it wasn't all of a sudden this thing of like stress and like, this is gonna be hard. I'll send it was like, she was super excited and she was like, you know, it just changed everything. So I was honestly really Blown Away by like just how, you know, listening to these meditations,

essentially because it's affirmation meditations. It's just like regular meditation, right? You have the meditation music in the background, but then it's saying positive affirmations positive statements about yourself. With, but I was blown away by how that just listening to that focusing on those words and visualizing them, like can change your mindset and then it changed her behavior and then like, just the whole thing.

And so I obviously while I did listen to these motherhood and birthing affirmations at night with her couldn't relate with them as much. And so, I started just just for fun. Really, I started recording affirmations in a bunch of different categories, stress.

Ships Finance, you know, just with my own voice and I throw like some meditation music in the background and I put them on Spotify. You know, I didn't think anything would happen is just kind of for fun. And we were both super blown away because I think is probably in the first like three months. We were getting about 50,000 streams a month on these affirmation meditations I put out there and so we're like holy you know like people love these and you know obviously people are finding as powerful as we

found them. And so my wife. Wife, who at the time was studying, computer science. So she's, you know, making little apps for her classes and stuff. Nothing too crazy. But you know, she was like, we need to turn this into an app because if you listen to her on Spotify on YouTube, it's cool.

But it's really, you can't really personalize it, you know. Like if you put on an app, you can change the voice, you can change the background music, you can layer in nature. Sounds. And then what? We are, super excited about was we added the ability for people to write and record. Our own personalized affirmations and then can meditate to those.

So for us we're super excited about it. That's kind of why we got started and just kind of our idea going into it. I was our motivation on how we got started on whole project, that's really cool man, and it sounds very real, you know, to me like it's a real story like it kind of happened in this very organic way and then the Spotify thing like that's that's awesome.

I think that's super cool that you kind of got that validation of like, oh this is a thing and I think it's a great space. Ace, you know, related to meditations and these affirmations especially over the last few years. I'm sure people were using it like crazy.

All the oh yeah, Alan has and stuff going on. I mean, shoot, I I do affirmations myself just kind of talking to myself, you know, whether it be like I'm getting around on my motorbike or something like this or even Christina, she'll have proceeded to my partner.

She'll have in her bathroom. She'll just have like these sticky notes all over her. A mirror all over the world just like different, like little sayings or things that you'll see. She'll read read after herself and to be honest even at night sometimes she listens to these little meditation apps that are positive affirmations.

Maybe she's listening to yours. I don't actually know. I hope so you should ask her. Yeah, that's cool. But yeah I think it's you know, it's a thing it's what's going on and it's important for people to recognize that this is a tool that they have these you know these affirmations speaking to themselves the power of these words.

So I think it's cool that you guys are doing this and I'm making it convenient and Easy for people to access, I think that's great. So maybe we can talk a little bit more about the sciency stuff, the greedy that stuff to just talk about like, okay, so this is cool it works because Jaden said it works because of his experience but it's like well okay let's talk about it a little bit more concrete stuff like why why does it work like what's going on?

Yeah yeah so it kind of affirmations they all kind of stem back to in the 1980s they studied was called self-affirmation Theory and essentially what it was Is studying how our core beliefs about our self, or our self affirmations, how they direct our mindset and then how they change our actual Behavior. So that's kind of what they were looking at. There were like, do these affirmations, if you say them or think them visualize them, do they actually change, you know, your behavior, your outcome.

So, that's kind of where it likes. The study of it started. There's tons and tons of research on it. But essentially, what's going on when you are listening to affirmations is, you know, a lot of times in life, Life we take on these limiting beliefs.

Some people have more more than others kind of like negative. Self-talk you could call it right? Like which is oftentimes limiting beliefs and which come from a lot of times people that are maybe most close to you or mean the best but you know like maybe your friends or family or mentors or whatever but they sometimes like you know you have an idea or you try something and they're like oh like you can't achieve this, no one in your family has ever achieved.

This, you know, this is too hard, whatever. Right. And a lot of that could be a self reflection of you know, Themselves. They haven't been able to do is they don't believe anyone else can wherever they come from or even we bring them to ourselves.

We try something we don't succeed. So we say I can't do that instead of trying again, right? So, lots of different places can give us limiting beliefs. But where the problem with that is, is that just like a habit in life where you do anything, limiting beliefs can become a habit. And so, in your mind your neurons in there in neuroscience, For the saying that is neurons that fire together wire together.

Meaning that, when you repetitively think, I thought it creates an actual, it creates an actual line in your, in your brain and your brain matter. And so that thought will repetitively happen. It'll create a habit, and if it's a negative thing. So, I guess an example would be like, if every time you like, let's say, you want to start a business, every time you try to sell a product, it doesn't happen. And so, then you say I can never sell products, it will never happen.

That limiting belief will have a very direct impact on your on your behavior. Because if you truly believe that you know, you can't achieve something, you're not going to try. And so positive affirmations and affirmation meditation. What it is doing is effectively rewiring. Those neural Pathways in your brain to overcome those limiting thoughts as limiting beliefs, those limiting negative habits in your mind and it's helping you to change your mindset. So that you Try put forth more

effort and then you therefore see different results. I like that. And I like how you use neural Pathways because that's what I wrote down because we've talked about that a few times. And even just Christina myself, we talked about this regularly, but also on the podcast, but creating connections to different things.

So, these routines, these habits, these types of things, it within the brain, the neural Pathways. If it's a new thing, then there's no path, right? It's just, it's like playing its You know, just desert if you want, right? There's no Road, there's no divot, there's nothing there. So there's no path for to be able to be accessible. And I'm just trying to think of the visual way for people to kind of understand this because we've talked about it a few times but it's nice to kind of

get that visual. I think I use like trenches before or like ditches. Like you know, in order to get the path that you know, if you have a trench or a ditch, the water is going to flow a lot better in the direction that you want it to go. So you know, using that visual that's I find really helpful to, you know, imagine if You're trying to create a new habit or new neural pathway or a new belief system about yourself in order to do that, you need to

create the path for it. And doing that path is through repetition consistency. In these types of things. Basically what you discovered is part of these affirmations, these words, speaking to yourself, hearing it through, You Know, audio in this type of stuff and kind of like incorporating, any kind of angle, we can to that space will help to carve out that path will help to carve out that divot that trench whatever you want to.

As a metaphor to help your brain kind of understand it. And without that, you know, it's hard to maintain where that path was because there is no path if you only do it a couple times, right? But if it's repeated over and over and over again, eventually and I use this example for the Mariana Trench, which is like the deepest trench in the ocean somewhere. I don't even know the Atlantic or something like that, but if you like really, you know, workout it and you do these affirmations and, you know, you

just bust ass, basically, trying to work towards changing these beliefs These mindsets, you can dig a trench that's so deep that, you know, it's going to become so easy and effortless for you to maintain that belief system that pattern that behavior, and that's kind of the ultimate goal is like, how do we do that? It's like, well, it starts with from just words sometimes right. Right.

Exactly. And I think one thing that I get to ski and I would say is important for people to know as they as they practice with affirmations meditation. You know, it's not necessarily just the words like just hearing it or just It it's really about the conviction.

You feel when you say or when you have it, and the number one way to really increase that belief is through visualization. So I recommend when people are using affirmations, right? If they're saying I have, you know, unlimited resources around me or I am a great partner that tries to listen to, you know, my spouse or something like that, right?

Whatever your affirmation is to not just a say the words but to visualize. What does this look? Look like in my life for me. So, you know, if you're talking about like Financial abundance and you're like, I am abundant, I have abundance all around me. What does abundance look like for you, right? Like what, what is your ideal goal? What's your ideal circumstance?

And using that visualization, really can help you rewire your neural Pathways really can help. You have belief that you can achieve what you're going for and really solidify where you're trying to go with your affirmations in your goals.

And so I think something that's so fascinating a study. I Recently saw was done because that showed your mind, cannot tell the difference between something you visualize and something's going on in real life. So did a study, they took some people and they stuck them under an MRI scanner. So, you know, looking at their brain and they told them to visualize, you know, a scary experience. So in this case, they told him to visualize a dog attacking them biting them, you know,

something that'd be scary and the as that when they looked at the brain and that MRI scanner thing Exact same parts of their brain lit up as if that was actually happening in real life. So when our, when our minds going to actual you know, fight or flight mode in real life, in those situations, the same parts of our brain are activated when we visualize it.

So, such a powerful tool, our brain, really can't tell the difference and so to truly believe like I have abundance, I am abundance. Visualize that visualize? What that looks like your brain can't tell the difference and you'll be able to start building that belief changing your Savior. And then change your outcome.

I'm so glad you said that actually visualizations. And what came up for me. When you were saying that is just like and I think it's important is that like, you know, words alone are not enough, you know, positive affirmations alone are not enough and I wasn't sure if that was going to come up in this conversation because, you know, positive thinking, and positive words and saying these things.

And, you know, it's great, it's a great step in the direction, but it's not enough by itself and needs to have something to accompany it and you said those Visualizations or something that's really supportive to that. And we mentioned on a previous podcast about the physiology.

Like if you actually like believe it in your physical body and you actually like move and like kind of change, you know, instead of just being stagnant, all time sitting in a chair and kind of slump posture and just you know you're saying affirmations are you listening to an affirmation act that you really don't believe it in your body, right?

That was another way of kind of incorporating. Like you need to have more than just the words and then when you talked about the visualizations I thought that was Huge. Because then it reminded me of sports and playing lots of sports growing up and basketball being my flavor of choice and visualizing myself playing and like visualize myself.

Doing, you know, going to the basket shooting baskets, you know, even like watching sports that visual. They're like, like you said, the brain doesn't really know the difference between what's reality is not reality because of the power of just being able to like close your eyes and just imagine and right imagination. So yeah, it's just such a simple way of recognizing that the brain has so much more power than we think it does just by closing your eyes and imagining

it. And in the thing that came up for me is like, you're manifesting it through your own visual perception. You know, if you want abundance, you want these things to kind of come through for you, or you're trying to shift a belief, you're trying to shift something in your life, using mantras using positive affirmations, In your eyes and imagining and visualizing as though it's already true is very much a manifestation type of strategy that is to be honest. I've heard it in so many

different spaces. Whether it be business, you know, personal development type things, relationships sport any of this stuff so it can apply across the board. I think, totally, exactly, yeah, I love what you're saying about sports so true, we have a whole Sports category and has recently training for a marathon. And every time I go to the gym, You know, like I kind of imagined, the use case for this app was that, you know, people would sit down on their couch

and the morning, or in bed at night and listen to them. But like, I'll be at the gym running on the treadmill training for this marathon, and I'd be like her. And you know, like, oh man, like I want to give up or whatever, so I put on like affirmations for running, and like, that would keep me going, but I, but I really think very powerful for sports, very powerful for business, very powerful, for a lot of areas in our life and like you were saying, you know,

There's a lot of people that can use sticky notes or there's different apps where you can see the affirmation text. We really wanted to those things are good and powerful, but we really want to go beyond that and merge it with meditation because I feel like that's where you can sit there and visualize these affirmations and play. And you can really make those those changes that you're looking to make perfect.

I'm glad you said that the meditation piece and what came up for me when you said that was basically, Putting yourself in a state where you're receptive to what you're doing, whereas, you know, you're playing sports or running treadmill and like you know, or you're sitting on the couch and you're doing these things, but you're not really investing, you know, the energy into what you're doing. You're kind of like, multitasking as people like to do, like I'm listening to

affirmations and I'm also doing this. It's like, well, technically your brain can only do one thing at a time. Now, technically, your brain can only do one thing at a time, it can only shift. I can only focus on one task at a time, one window, if you will To use a computer metaphor in even though it can switch between these things very quickly, it seems like we're multitasking but at the end of the day, we can only do one thing at a time. So by meditating or putting

ourselves in a position where you're receptive to the goal of what you're trying to do, which is, you know, shifts in mindset, use some positive affirmations, listen to the audio, kind of focus on your breath a little bit and absorb that receptivity of absorbing what you're actually trying to do.

It'll probably be a lot more effective. I've actually like, carving out, Out that pathway right? Totally. Yeah, exactly. And what I love about affirmation meditation because I'm a huge fan of, you know, right? Just regular meditation. I've used in sight timer and calm and like headspace. And these kind of apps meditation is an awesome opportunity to, you know, find peace. Find calm overcome anxiety, overcome stress and really relax.

And what I love about affirmation meditation is, I feel like a lot of the times it's kind of getting at the root cause of that stress anxiety. Like what is causing you stress anxiety? Is it? Your finances, is it your relationship is that your confidence, right or personal worth?

And so, you can listen to affirmations on any of these different categories and really focus on the root cause of your stress and anxiety it. Work on those areas, change your mindset, in those areas, to change your behavior and your outcome. And then it really helps you kind of alleviate where that Stress and Anxiety come from.

So, that's what I love about pairing affirmations and Ocean together and kind of the benefit you get from that. Yeah, I think it's cool as well. That at least when I saw it on the app, you and your mentioning it. Now there's different areas that you can kind of, like, focus on and as an entry point for a lot of people I think that's important because, you know, sometimes they're like, well, I don't really know what to say. I don't know what kind of

affirmations I need to tell myself or what I need to listen to, but you can really pretty much do it for anything. So, whatever entry point for you is going to be the most applicable to you, whether it be Sports To start with, or maybe it's, you know, stress at work or maybe it's just, you know, being more positive towards yourself.

And not not, not – kind of avoiding this negative self-talk or maybe it's, you know, pain because of you're going through pregnancy or some sort of other pain, because of the physical ailment that you're dealing with or relationships or whatever it is. The point is is that there's a way that you can kind of enter into the space in to experience how it can actually work from you and know that I can expand beyond that. But I think it's important.

For people to just, you know, try something that is relatable and it makes sense to them in the space of what those currently going on in their climate, or in their world. And basically, what I'm hearing you say is like it can be almost anything, right? And you guys have tried to cover almost everything to be inclusive as much as possible.

So that if someone feels like, you know, they want to try this positive affirmation and but like, will this work for? I don't know XYZ. I'm trying to think of a different thing. Be a little bit funky, but the point is, is it's probably you probably already have and if you don't I'm sure you guys will eventually come up with that and throw in some applications. Yeah, exactly.

We're constantly adding new categories, my wife actually writes all of the affirmations, then we have other people record them. But yeah, we have, I think we have like 17 categories. Now, we're always adding new categories and subcategories, and when people give us suggestions, we try to work on those and incorporate them.

But the other thing that I do want to touch on that, I think. Is so powerful is, you know, these affirmation meditations very, very powerful and we want people to use them forever. But I really what gets me excited is when people use these affirmation meditations to kind of give them an idea of personal affirmations, they want to write for themselves and they want to record. I think it's so powerful to listen to these, you know, profession recorded

affirmations, you know, listen to these sessions, meditate to them, but then take away affirmations, you like or ideas you like and be able to go and create your Own personalized affirmations on the app and then really meditate to those because, you know, obviously that's going to be your personal life, your personal goals, your personal things that you're trying to work on and you'll really see amazing results as you do that. Yeah, that's such a cool

feature. Actually, and I remember you saying at the beginning and it kind of like slip by me. But that's really where the power is is is to be able to actually hear your own voice and to really hyper focus on thing that's going on in your, in your world.

But sometimes that's super scary. Airy and kind of like, oh, how do I do that? So listening to the, like I said, the Centre point of listening to these professional affirmations which have obviously been written by your wife, which is super cool.

By the way, I think, is a great way to start and then once it gets to go or at once, it keeps going, you know, having that ability to be able to record your own is that's super don't like, I think that's great. I actually kind of want to try it myself and definitely share with with my partner.

Kristi, I'm sure she's going to love that as well. Because I've done it before, I mean, I've been listening to these things when I'm like sleeping and putting these out. Formation things that will repeat the same thing over and over again, for like an hour to two hours while I'm sleeping, you know, thinking my psychology is going to change.

My subconscious is going to change, but like, the more that I thought about it, I was like, I really don't think this is doing anything, you know what I mean? It's probably just interrupting my sleep patterns and I'm not actually getting any, you know, good deep sleep or REM sleep.

And, you know, just having this conversation and learning more about it about, you know, needing some more than just the words needs more, that visualization needs more of that physical or physiology belief. It's yeah, it's cool.

That this app can provide that customizability for each person to be able to do it, you know, even throw in someone's name or something, really specific that, you know, you can't just come up with a record adapt professionally, so that's a super cool feature. How did you guys come, like, how did you get to that stage? Like when did you realize?

Because I think you said earlier on that, this is like a new feature that recently got added know, it's kind of been something. We had an our back burner for ever that. We wanted to incorporate but the current version of the app that we have now launched.

I think about eight months ago, but yeah, we you know, we just we realized the well we did research on the science and everything kind of behind it. The power of really personalizing your affirmations, creating those personal self, thoughts of those personal beliefs and incorporating that so seen, how powerful that was, you know, it's kind of a we moved in the direction incorporating that in something like that. Yeah.

Well, so now I'm going to ask you a personal question. So how do you use the app? My favorite way to use that and you know, like what I recommend for people is Even If people could just use it for 5 minutes in the morning and five minutes at night like get your day started off and finish your date so powerful. Like personally, you know, I just go out in the mornings usually and we'll sit on my couch and listen to affirmations.

But I mean, I think what an a piece of advice I can give people that really can make. This powerful, if you've ever read the book Atomic habits, when you want to create a habit or incorporate something into your life, the secret to making it successful is to pair it with something that you were already doing. So, you know, for like a lot of people, if they wake up in the morning and drink their morning coffee like pair it with that, like, listen to affirmations at

the same time or if, you know, before you go to bed at night, you brush your teeth like right after you brush your teeth, or while you're brushing your teeth, listen to your affirmation. So, like pair it with something that you already do. Do it right before or after that, you know, and I think that's a really powerful way to incorporate it into your life because it's not like it's not like something where you do it once and you're good.

It's like it's like a muscle, the more you practice, the more benefit, you'll receive out of it, the more your mindset will shift and the more you'll be able to really create that growth mindset that you want and kind of get away from like a scarcity mindset in all areas of your life, right?

A growth mindset in relationships and in finance and in You know, stress and abundance, if you're able to really shift that mindset and to visualize what you want, what you're going for on a consistent basis, you'll see some really big big changes and affects in your life.

Yeah, that's great and consistency. Like you said, it's so huge when it comes to these habit-forming things. I mean, there's so many different tools that exist out there for habit-forming but at the end of the day consistency is the number one that is across the board. The same for all of these things. And that's a great example, actually, like to pair it with something that you're already doing because it just kind of like, latches on to what's already in motion, right? It's kind of around.

I don't know how this would work visualized, but like how I would connect with a neural pathway. That's already existing there but it's kind of like bringing it along with you and the thing that came up for me it was like a morning walk or an evening walk which we usually try to do here and I was thinking to myself, I was like would that be enough or you know what?

I actually need to be in a meditative like, sitting down closing my eyes, you know, that that At formal, if you will meditation. But at the end of the day I'm like walking can be a meditation for someone, you know going on the treadmill go to the gym can be meditation for someone as well but I think that it can be paired up with those things like you're saying in. It's such a great entry point and that's the thing that's key for me is I think making it

accessible to people first and then once they start to really believe in and see the benefits and they see the shifts and the behaviors and all this stuff, then they can be like, cool and how much, what else can I do and then it can just be Mm stemming from there and they can move it into different areas.

So, yeah, that's that was a great Point Atomic habits, right? I don't actually haven't actually read that one, but super cool. Look, yeah, super cool. Well, where should we go from here? Is there anything else that you guys have come across? That would be, you know, helpful tips on how to incorporate this, how to get started.

Maybe I mean, you kind of give some insights on that, but like with regards to the app, you can kind of like I think you can, you can trial it out, right? Yeah. Yeah. So yeah, I would recommend everyone. Go get the app, you can get it on iOS or Android. It's called self pause.

So the app is free to download and then it's free to write and record your own affirmations, meditate? Like that whole sections, free with a bunch of different categories of the affirmation mentation sections that are free, like, for children, or things are around like, stress anxiety. And then, there's if you want the full Library, you can get the premium version of the app or whatever. But Super powerful.

I would highly recommend people get started and then I do have a feature that we recently added that I would recommend people use and that we have like a daily affirmation and affirmation reminders section where you can go on there and you can set reminders for yourself throughout the day.

So like personally I have like three kind of like affirmations and goals. I like to focus on throughout the day so I have them set to come. Come to me throughout the day three times and, you know, if I'm in the middle of work or Stress or have something going on kind of seeing that come up on my phone.

You know, we have so many notifications of things that are kind of distracting and distracting us. These are kind of notifications and reminders you can set for yourself to kind of focus and recenter and focus on, you know, maybe affirmations you listen to that morning or your kind of focusing on for this period or phase of your life.

Alright. That's kind of cool. Can you is there like a limit or you can put like one every hour type of thing? I've uh I've made many salt tell you this is a this is a cool story and a cool strategy that kind of is why I Incorporated this into the app.

So there's something called the 369 method. I don't know. If you've ever heard of it, a lot of people in like the affirmation meditation kind of space, they'll credit Nikola Tesla with inventing it. I've done a lot of research and I can verify that's true but regardless the methods pretty cool but essentially it's that you focus on your three biggest goals that you're currently trying to achieve. Um, and you set them to you.

I mean, like a lot of people just like set an alarm on their phone or whatever, but I'll set notifications or use this app to have them come to me, six times a day. And every time that it comes to me, I have to think about them for nine seconds. Long each one of those three four, nine seconds, long and like visualize what?

It looks like completed visualize the steps that you're taking to in order to achieve it so I'll give you an example of when I use this. Those really Awesome was last summer, my wife and I we had this opportunity to go to Hawaii. So I had someone, I knew had like a basement Suite. Pretty much that wasn't booked on Airbnb and their normal two months.

So, they were just giving away for really really cheap, you know, with work and with, you know, we have two kids and like everything going on in my life. It seemed like it was a lot of work to make this kind of happen on the spur of the moment.

And so I use this 369 men. Where I set three goals. One of them was we had to like pack up our whole house and put it on Airbnb, you know, in order to afford, a two-month trip to Hawaii, which, you know, our whole house is full of crap, so that was like a whole thing. And the other one is I just I put on there, I am happy with my family in Hawaii and every time that would pop up. I would literally just visualize myself on a beach with my family happy.

And then the third one was we were working on launching this app. This was last summer right? Before we did like the big version of what we have now and I would say like our app is launched and you know Flawless it's been a big Journey getting the app done.

So anyways, I had these three things going three times a day and every single time it would come up, right? I would see, you know, like my house is rented out and on Airbnb and and six times a day, these things are popping up, and I'm focusing on them like every three hours.

Every two hours, every three hours, I'm taking. In seconds out of my day to focus on every single one of these goals. And then when I'm done, I'm like, you know, like I'm not doing something super important right now. Like I'll go take pictures for the Airbnb, or I'll go pack up like the kitchen or, you know, I'll go like get this thing from the store.

I need for our trip, right? So like it was like, I like super, Super Hyper focused on these three critical goals that I was working on and within the span of like two weeks, we're able to get the whole house, packed the whole house on Airbnb. Get it rented, we made it to Hawaii and it was so It was surreal.

We had this moment when like I think it was the next morning or the first morning when we were in Hawaii we're going for a walk along the beach. And I was like, I was like, living what I had visualized weeks ago when I said I am happy with my family on the beach, like I was just looking at it.

I was like this is what I visualized and and it's come and so yeah, I really think that 369 method if you have three things you're like, really just focused on getting something goes down or something achieved or change in the mindset or breaking a habit. Such a powerful tool, I would highly recommend and you can incorporate that into the notification feature of the app after after that experience then we added that feature. Yeah, that's great man.

And that's the such a simple way and it's so short, nine seconds. It doesn't seem very long right. My seconds on each one so you got three of them but yeah, it's true. Still still shows you're looking at less than a minute a day basically. It's sure.

But I mean obviously, you know, there's a bit of setting up and that's kind of what came up. For me is like you need to put in some effort. You can't just start playing these things and like it's all going to work out. And the thing that came up for me is the visuals.

So I really like that entire like 369 thing but then you're talking about the visuals and you would like imagine this thing and part of me was thinking like okay so if I'm going to do this because I'm thinking for myself and thinking for audience, if I'm going to set this up for myself, okay cool. So I'm going to get some affirmations related to work, something to relate it to my relationships. Maybe to money, something along those lines. I think there's a little bit of

Involved with regards to determining what the visual visual image is going to be as well. And I and we talked about the visuals but we didn't really say like practically like do you actually need to need to take some time to like, say like what do you want it to look like maybe you need to write it down or maybe you need to just so imagine it. But either way it needs to be concrete and consistent so that every time you do it you pop up that visual again the same visual is that right?

Exactly. Yeah, honestly, I would say the hardest part because after, you know after that then I was like coming up with a new three goals. Every two weeks that I wanted to work on and or, you know, and so that was one of the hardest parts of this whole experience was like sitting down and thinking like what are my absolute top priorities. What is like the most important thing to me right now? I'm like what would that look like completed? And it's kind of like like

you're saying is a lot of work to like visualize it. But it's a lot of work to be like Like what would that look like? What are the steps I need to take like looking at the full picture of it and then committing to it? It is a lot of work but incredibly effective. Yeah.

And I mean, shoot using you're saying two weeks, right? You said two weeks a couple times with regards to, you know, having these shifts, two weeks is fast for habit-forming fast, that's a fast that's that's what very quickly, three weeks.

But yeah and like, you know, years ago and maybe still. So there's a lot of Talking about, or there was a lot of talking about like how habit-forming takes, you know, 21 days and all this stuff. And I just, that was just old research to me, just wasn't true.

And to be honest, it was like a minimum of 21 days. But realistically, it's like 66 days but it can be up to, like, 283 days. So just, you know, you think about two weeks and then you think about all these other numbers, like shoot, that's a significant difference because it's super overwhelming to shift habits and to change routines, whenever you're like forgot to do this for two months.

Months, possibly six months, like, you know, consistency is hard so making it easier more accessible and then knowing that, it can happen faster. And, you know, not that I'm all about trying to get fast results. But like, people people want fast results, right?

If they can get it or the way that I would like to look at it as what's the best strategy to achieve the best results within an organic quickly way that D be accents, quickly in an organic way. So, you know, hearing you say, two weeks, two weeks, two weeks. But if you put in that You know, you set yourself up, you use the 36 method, you figure out what these visuals are. You just you really get strong or very clear on those three goals and you set yourself up

and you're consistent with it for two weeks. Like two weeks is not very long but it's quite anyone can do it and they, the three goals aren't always like your big overarching goal in life. A lot of times it would be like a specific like step towards one of those goals, you know.

So, every two weeks I would have accomplished one and we working on On again, what's the next step in reaching that goal and kind of incorporate those sometimes? Yeah, that's good. That's good point. Actually to make it more. What is it like realistic or achievable goals that can't you can't be dropping.

Like I want to be, you know, seven figures and, you know, two weeks, you know. Yeah. It needs to be a little bit more Milestone steps. I think is cool and then building that momentum to build, you know, dig that trench create that pathway and once that gets going, then it gets going and it rolls.

So that's really cool. I really like that. That's this is awesome man. this is, I'm glad that you came on to be able to share this stuff and talk about it, especially the science pieces, and Yeah, lots of awesome stuff here.

Cool. I'm a kind of excited to go. Try it out and do a little bit more of this. Do a little bit of homework and actually put something together for myself and even Christina. But yeah, I mean if you're listening your results. Yeah.

If you guys are listening and you're like, shoot, I wanted you got to like yeah man, I'm I'm feeling a little, passionate and expire excited about this so I can imagine how it felt for you, whenever you saw the benefits with your wife and just for yourself and, you know, all that.

That fuel behind this mission of yours, which I think is really, really cool. And I love that you guys are doing this stuff and I love that it's you and your wife that are doing it together and Yamin. So if so the app is called self pause, right? You can download it, Android, iPhone, IOS, all the stuff. And basically, you can start off by listening to some already pre-recorded affirmations, choosing an area that Is suitable to your current life, whatever you got going on. So you can kind of like and when

I was in there earlier, it looks like you had a bunch of you had like samples for like each different category and then obviously there's a lot more with the premium that you can explore but then, you know, setting yourself up as well.

So like you can obviously explore and be like these are some things that I can do. These are certain areas that I want to focus on but like actually put down, sit down and do some work. It's kind of the takeaway that I got from the last 10 minutes is like, you know, decide like what's really most important to you.

It makes something that's really realistic for you to achieve and set yourself up with some reminders. And, you know, set yourself up with some visualizations of what you want to create for yourself, or manifest for yourself or move towards for yourself. And then once you kind of put in that little bit of homework, then, you know, you can pretty much just follow the app, you know what I mean.

Or follow your own affirmations or follower your process, and then just trust the process and, you know, after a couple weeks, you know, that's when you get to see the So, there's obviously there's that faith in the beginning to need to trust it, and try it out and be consistent with it.

And I know that a lot of people have had challenges with that, because it's so hard to form habits that it's like thinking about starting a new habit, is really, really challenging for people. But if, you know, the setup actually in and I say there's a lot of work to set up.

It's really not that hard, to be honest, to set it up, but I think it's just important to know that you do need to do a little bit of work to like set this up, especially if it's important to you. So that's the big takeaway is that I got from this. This is like, you know putting a little bit of work use this app to make it accessible and easy for you to be able to do it. And you know, the results that you'll see, you'll see if it works for you, you knows maybe

it doesn't work forever, maybe there's something that's, you know, there's a cork in the in some things blocked but that's just a whole other conversation. I'm sure. But either way, I think, generally speaking, this is a really powerful tool to be able to use.

So thank you, Jaden for sharing all your insights, during the story. And, you know, all this practical information, I think it's great. Well, thanks for having me on the show. Is there? If anyone in these questions? I'm obviously they can, you know, they can try out the app and stuff like that, but if they wanted to reach out to you to like ask questions or they, you know, anything like that?

Is there a way that they can do that? Yeah, they can find me at Jaden Schaefer on Instagram or on LinkedIn. Feel free to reach out and I'll get back with any any ideas. And like I said, you know, I love it when people test out the app and give us, you know, feedback. There's a feature or something that you think will be really helpful for you.

Let us know. You can fill out a support or like you can put a little send us a message through the app as well and we actively are you know, working on it. You know, we have people constantly adding new features so people have suggestions. We also love to hear that feedback. Yeah, that's great.

And we do the same thing for this podcast. So yeah, that's great. Thank you for that. I'll put that on the show notes so you guys can find that quick and easy to link up to and yeah that's basically it. And thank you so much for joining us.
